The Art Department at Mount Carmel Academy has undertaken a project to restore statues from the Galveston Railroad Museum that water and winds of Hurricane Ike damaged.
Under the direction of art teacher, Ernest Davila, Mount Carmel Academy art students will be working all spring semester to repair broken fingers, chipped arms and legs, and remove water stains to return the statues to their original 'Ghosts of the Past" bright white condition. During the project, two statues will greet visitors in the Mount Carmel main office. "The statues are so life-like, the students will really enjoy helping working on them," said Paul Sobieski, school president.
Mr. Davila's Art Classes will be working all Spring 2010 to repair and restore 40 lifesize statues from the Galveston Railroad Museum. Below please find links to television stories about the project.
