SPORTS ROCKS AT MCA!

And to think we did it without a gym
or an athletic field on the school property!

Track Team Running To Win!
Blessing of the Athletes at the start of the school year.
ATHLETICS GENERAL INFORMATION

Our Sports Vision

Although wins and losses are markers that normally categorize sports success, they should never be the cornerstones of any successful athletics program.  The MCA sports philosophy centers on helping all our student athletes to grow into mature and experienced young men and women, both in the realm of sports and in their academic studies.  The complete student-athlete thrives on the field or on the court, highly achieves in the classroom, and serves his/her community.  Juggling academics and athletics has never been an easy task but participation in athletics is a privilege not a right.  Therefore, student-athletes will be held to a higher standard because they are both representing the school as well as a more visible image of the school.  Furthermore, all sports is a "Team" sport meaning all student-athletes strive to work together with their team mates to learn together, practice together, perform together and care for each other.

Interested in playing a SPORT at MCA?   We have many sports for you to consider!

Click on the name below to go to that sport.  Be sure you read about the rules first.

CROSS COUNTRY                            TRACK

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL                         SOCCER

GIRLS BASKETBALL                         BOYS BASKETBALL

SOFTBALL                                       BASEBALL

BOWLING

Here is what you have to do to play an extra-curricular sport:

1. Speak with the appropriate coach and fill out the registration forms for that sport including having the

student and his/her parents both sign the forms.

        -  Form: Permission to use Exercise Equipment
        -  Form: Permission to play Sport
        -  Form: Acknowledgement of rules governing sports at MCA

2. Turn in the appropriate sport fee ($125.00 - $195.00, depending on sport - $300 for football) (charged for each sport played.)

3. A physical is required before you can participate in sports. (Physicals will be offered in
August at MCA for a fee - date to be determined later.) (Or you can take the form, go to your own doctor and then turn in the completed form to the coach.)

4. Attend all practices and participate in all games, or give your coach enough notice if you have a

    scheduling conflict.

5. Support the major fund-raiser for each sport you participate in. (Each sport is allowed one fund-

raiser during the year to help with costs so it is imperative that all team members help out.)

6. Uniforms cost the school money. Once a uniform is checked out to the student, the player (and

his/her parents) are responsible for returning the uniform at the end of the season, or paying for a

     replacement.

7. MCA owns three buses.  Transportation to the games will be coordinated between the

coach and players’ parents. This arrangement worked last year so we will use it again this year.

Occasionally, a full-size bus may be arranged for at extra cost to MCA.  In that case, players will be
assessed a small charge to help defray the cost of renting the bus. (The bus charge
will be
more if a bus is used for regional or state championship games out of town.)
