As a contract-charter school, MCA does not charge tuition - once admitted, attendance is free. However, public funding only covers about 66% of what it actually costs to run the school. Additional fund-raising is crucial to sustain and grow the school. Much work is being done in obtaining pledge-support donations, grants and event fund-raising.
MCA was incorporated as a non-profit Texas corporation and has received 501(C)3 status with the federal government as a public charity. Therefore, all donations to MCA are fully tax deductible for the donor.
HISD provides funding to MCA throughout the school year on a pro-rata basis, meaning we receive funds for each day each students attends school. If a students is absent, or arrives late after attendance is taken each day at 9:30 am, MCA does not receive funds for that student for that day. Consequently, we MUST have excellent attendance each day to get our public funding. We remind parents quietly but firmly that the reason their son or daughter is at MCA is to receive a quality education in a moral environment. The student cannot receive that education if he/she misses class. At the same time, his/her attendance also insures we receive the proper funding to educate him/her. It all works hand-in-hand.
The yearly operation of the school ultimately is up to our community of parents, volunteers, friends and faithful community partners. Our goal for the 2011-2012 school year is to raise $200,000.00 for the school's operation and improvement.
Here are ways we are striving to achieve that goal: (Click on each heading below to take you to that page on the website.)

| Tax-Deductible PLEDGE Everyone is encouraged to review their own finances and then make a monthly donation pledge to MCA. Whether it is monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or an annual pledge, your tax deductible donation helps keep operations going. There is no tuition at MCA, however, our funding from the state only covers 66% of our operations. Grants help purchase specific items we need but they do not cover daily operations. That's where making a pledge and carrying through on it helps MCA to cover our operating costs.
